Whether you are a large metropolitan police department or a small town agency, Community Based Policing Consultants have the expertise to help you build trust and enhance community based policing.

We understand that effective community policing requires a collaborative relationship between police and community members. We work with police departments to develop strategies that promote transparency, accountability, and community engagement.

Our team of consultants has years of experience in law enforcement, and we are committed to helping departments navigate the complex challenges of community policing.

On Aug. 9, 2014. The shooting of Michael Brown, a Black teenager, by Darren Wilson, a white Ferguson Police Officer, led to months of protests and unrest in the City of Ferguson and also gained national media attention.

Though a St. Louis County grand jury declined to indict Wilson, the shooting was the catalyst for a review of law enforcement procedures throughout the St. Louis region and led to numerous reforms. As a result of these reforms, St. Louis City implemented a seven-member civilian oversight board, w
hich began operation in 2016. 

Ms. Barton was appointed the first Commissioner of this agency. 
THE CBPC CORE PRINCIPLES
 

In December 2014, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order establishing the task force on 21st Century Policing. The task force identified best practices and recommendations on how policing practices can promote effective crime reduction while building community trust. As a result, several pillars were established.
